Checking in...

I've spent the last week doing an A1 line drawing of a photo of rubbish I took. It nearly crushed my soul but hallelujah I finished it! Pictures to follow. So now the next thing I want to do is work on a skip outside the ceramics building. The most challenging thing about this is going to be sitting directly outside one of the studio windows with second, third and fourth years quietly ridiculing me while I sift throught their rubbish. It's going to be fun.

A Beginning.

I'm basing my project on the Urban Environment around waste and rubbish. I don't really know where I'm going with it yet but I do have a vague plan. I want to look at rubbish up close so you don't really realize it's trash anymore, it hopefully becomes something a little more interesting and different.

This is one of the first drawings I did in my sketchbook. It's in pen and ink. It's just a crumpled up coke can I found in the rubbish, I liked the lines in it.

This is another piece in my sketchbook. I used a viewfinder to zone in on rubbish in a tip. Then I just cut out all the shapes using a blade.

Project Waste...

For the next couple of weeks I'm going to be taking a closer look at rubbish, in the hope that I can find something interesting in a subject matter that in it's essense is hopelessly boring.

We'll see how it goes...
